A good-sized crowd attended the 2017 annual general meeting of Literacy in Motion as chaired by Rick Rake for the second consecutive year. Two productive meetings were held tonight to ensure a bright future for the organization which is managed by Candie Thorne and Theresa Jackson. Murray Butt, volunteer tutor for the Wednesday ESL program was a terrific guest speaker with adult learner Aruna from Sri Lanka telling one of his humourous anecdotes about the phrase “Sounds Good.” Thanks auditor Scott Webster and son, Sam, for offering us some very valuable accounting advice. It was a time for sweet sadness, too, as former Mission school trustee and Literacy in Motion chair for many years, Cindy Miller, stepped off the board after so many years of valuable contributions. Judith Ray told a wonderful story about Cindy’s role in the community and she was honoured with a special book and bouquet of flowers. Thanks all for attending.
